The Plaice to be!
Professional chef comes to Chulmleigh
Year 10 Food Technology students were given the fantastic opportunity of working with Tom Lewis, team leader of Hospitality and Catering at Petroc, Barnstaple recently. The aim of the session was to give the students an opportunity to handle, prepare and taste fresh plaice. Under Tom's excellent guidance and demonstrations, each student filleted, cooked and tasted their final product which included a home made topping and fresh sauce.
Comments from the students included "I really enjoyed the afternoon and learnt a lot about fish. I had a good time filleting and cooking it" - Abbi Raymont, YPC. Ebony Kimber said "It was an extremely good lesson when Tom came in; it was fun filleting a fish".
Tom summarised the day by saying "Today's Year 10 Food Technology group did a fantastic job of fish filleting and cookery, embracing the opportunity provided by the Hay project. They were a real credit to the school."
